What a guard deployment includes

Guards are not posted to "keep an eye on things". Each post has a written post order defining exactly what that guard does, in what order, and what they escalate. Standard scope covers:

• Access control — visitor screening and logging, appointment verification, contractor and vendor entry, ID checks at the gate.
• Vehicle and material control — vehicle entry register, boot and underbody checks where specified, and gate passes for any material leaving the premises.
• Patrolling — scheduled rounds of defined checkpoints, with each round recorded so you can see coverage rather than assume it.
• Emergency response — first response to fire alarms, medical incidents and unauthorised entry, with a defined escalation chain to your site contact.
• Incident reporting — every incident written up the same shift, not recalled a week later when you ask about it.

Shift patterns and coverage

Most sites run either three eight-hour shifts or two twelve-hour shifts across twenty-four hours, seven days a week. We size the deployment around your actual risk hours rather than selling a flat headcount — a warehouse with night dispatch and an office with a single reception post need different structures.

Every deployment includes reliever provision. Guards are entitled to a weekly off, and that cover is built into the headcount from day one instead of being handled by asking somebody to work a double shift. That is the single most common reason posts go uncovered at other agencies.

How supervision actually works

Supervision is the difference between a guard and a deterrent. It is also the part most agencies quietly skip once the contract is signed.

• Muster and attendance at the start of every shift, with absence escalated immediately.
• Shift handover log — the outgoing guard records site status and open issues for the incoming guard.
• Supervisor site visits including unannounced night checks, recorded with time and observations.
• Uniform and grooming checks — uniform, ID card, and turnout inspected, not assumed.
• Monthly performance review with you, covering incidents, absences and any corrective action.
